Frequently Asked Questions — Havado
Everything you need to know about buying and selling on Havado.
General
What is Havado? Havado is a marketplace for buying and selling second-hand equestrian equipment — saddles, bridles, rugs, riding wear, and more. Think of it as a dedicated space for the horse community, built by someone who's lived in it.
Where does Havado operate? We're based in the Netherlands and currently focus on the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany, with plans to grow across Europe.
Is Havado free to use? Browsing and listing items is free. Havado charges a 5% buyer protection fee on purchases, which covers secure payments and buyer protection. Sellers are not charged extra fees.
Buying
How do I know a seller is trustworthy? Every seller has a review score visible on their profile, built from feedback after each sale. We also encourage honest, detailed listings with real photos so you know exactly what you're getting.
What if my item doesn't arrive, or isn't as described? Your payment is held securely until you confirm you've received the item. If there's a genuine problem — the item doesn't arrive, or is significantly different from the listing — contact us and we'll help resolve it.
How do I pay? Payments are processed securely through Stripe, one of the world's most trusted payment providers. Havado never sees or stores your card details.
Can I collect an item in person instead of having it shipped? Yes — many sellers offer both shipping and local collection. Check the listing for available options, or message the seller to ask.
Selling
How do I get paid after I sell something? Once your buyer confirms they've received the item, your payment is released to your bank account via Stripe — usually within 5 days of confirmed delivery.
Do I need to be a registered business to sell on Havado? No — most sellers on Havado are individuals selling their own used equipment, not businesses. You don't need a KVK number or business registration to sell casually.
What if a buyer wants to return an item? Buyers can only request a return if the item is significantly different from your listing description — not simply because they changed their mind. If a dispute is raised, you'll always have the chance to respond with evidence (photos, listing details, shipping proof) before any refund is issued.
What if my package gets lost in shipping? As long as you shipped with tracking and packed the item properly, you're not responsible for items lost or delayed by the carrier. Always keep your tracking number until the sale is complete.
Is it safe to add my bank details for payouts? Yes. Your payout details are collected directly by Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor used by companies like Amazon and Shopify. Havado never sees or stores your bank account details — they go straight to Stripe, securely.
Shipping
How much does shipping cost? Shipping costs depend on the item's size and weight, from around €4.50 for small accessories up to €50 for large saddles. Sellers set their own shipping fee at listing, based on our shipping guide.
Can horses be shipped?
No — horses are collection only, as they can't be sent via standard couriers. Always arrange safe, in-person collection with proper transport.
How do I delete my account? To delete your Havado account, log in and go to Account Settings → Manage Account. Check the box "I want to delete my account" and click Delete account. This will permanently remove your personal data, user profile, and listings from the marketplace. This action cannot be undone.
Trust & Safety
Is my personal and payment information safe? Yes. All payments run through Stripe, which meets the highest industry security standards. Havado does not store your card or bank details.
What happens if someone breaks the rules? Sellers who misrepresent items, take payments outside the platform, or violate our seller rules may have their account suspended. We take listing honesty and buyer/seller trust seriously.
Who do I contact if I have a problem? Email us anytime at hello@havado.net — we aim to respond within 24 hours.
